Water coming in
From the meter to every tap: leaks found and fixed, tired galvanized replaced, pressure brought under control.
Leak & pipe repair
A leak rarely shows up where it starts. We trace it to the source, whether that is a pinhole in old copper, a rusted galvanized thread, a failed supply line or a pipe that split in a freeze, and repair it with materials that suit the rest of the house.
Many Chattanooga houses still carry water through galvanized steel that has been closing up with rust for seventy years or more. When repairs stop making sense, we replace the supply piping in sections or through the whole house and leave you with good pressure and valves that actually turn.
Small problems waste a surprising amount of water. We repair and replace toilets, faucets, shower valves, garbage disposals and the supply and drain connections behind them, so they work quietly and stay dry.
Chattanooga is built on ridges and valleys, and water pressure follows the terrain. Houses low on a hill can see pressure high enough to wear out water heaters, toilet valves and supply lines. We measure it, then install or replace the pressure reducing valve and expansion tank the system needs.
Water heaters repaired when they can be and replaced when they should be, set up safely and to code.
Water heaters
No hot water, not enough of it, rusty water or a puddle under the tank: we find out whether it is a part or the heater itself and tell you honestly which makes sense. Replacements are sized for your household and installed with the valves, pan, drain and venting connections a safe installation calls for.
Filtration systems matched to what is actually in your water, whether it comes from the river, a utility district or a well.
Water filtration systems
Good filtration starts with knowing your water: city water treated with chlorine, a utility district drawing from wells, or a private well on a ridge all call for different equipment. We install and service filtration systems that deal with what is really there, plumbed neatly with a bypass so they are easy to maintain.
Camera inspections that show you the inside of the line, then the right fix for roots, bellies, breaks and pumps.
Sewer & septic camera inspection
Instead of guessing, we send a camera down the line. You see what we see: roots at a clay joint, a cracked cast iron pipe, a low spot holding water, or a clear line with nothing wrong. It is the honest way to decide between cleaning, a spot repair and replacement, and it is well worth doing before you buy an older house.
A drain that keeps clogging is telling you something. We clear kitchen, bath, laundry and main line stoppages, and when the same drain backs up again and again we look for the reason, which in older homes is often a rough cast iron pipe or roots in the line outside.
The pipe between an older house and the street is often clay or cast iron laid generations ago, and tree roots find every joint. Once the camera shows the problem, we repair the bad section or replace the line, set proper cleanouts, and backfill carefully in our red clay so the new pipe keeps its slope.
On hillside lots the house can sit lower than the sewer main or the septic tank, so wastewater has to be pumped uphill. We install and replace sewage pump basins, grinder and ejector pumps, floats and alarm panels, and get a failed system moving again.
The same honest work for shops, offices, churches and rental property.
Commercial plumbing
Living Water Plumbing serves commercial customers as well as homeowners. We repair and replace fixtures, water heaters, valves and piping, inspect lines by camera, and work around your opening hours as far as the job allows.
We look first, explain what is wrong in plain words and lay out your options. Where a camera can show you the problem, you see it on the screen before you decide anything.
Water where it should not be?
Shut the main, then call.
Close the main water valve where the line enters the house and call 423-567-0011. If you smell gas, leave the building and call Chattanooga Gas or 911 from outside.
